I'm the keyboard/bass player for I-Am-I.

Sorry you didn't like the keyboard sounds I configured. But it really wasn't our intention to sound 100% true to Rush's original recording of Tom Sawyer. One thing that confuses people's ears is that we play in D-standard tuning, which definitely changes the sound of the song.

The sounds of the Oberheim keyboards Geddy used are incredibly unique and hard to imitate using most synths. The lead sound is actually one that I prefer to use for all of my leads. It is basic sawtooth wave (monophonic) with slight glide, which I assign to be variable during performance.

The keyboard I use for my leads is a vintage Korg DW-8000, which is more like a MiniMoog than an Oberheim. For the "Taurus" bass part, I used a preset in the Yamaha Motif 6.

You are right, they aren't the greatest sounds, but the seeds to my money tree still haven't come in the mail yet.

Thanks for your kind words, just something to note, I'm the narrator and backup vocalist, and I never had any sort of illness. The keyboardist had the illness, but is not the narrator. Hope that cleared some things up. :)
