Ah, you didn't think I'd given up gaming entirely did you?
Gone (and gladly, to be honest) are the days of logging in immediately on arriving home from work (and rushing home to boot) and staying on until sleepytime, but I still do game, and lately,… more »

In the past, I've had stretches of maybe a few weeks, a month or so tops, where I haven't gamed much or at all - but as of right now it's been several months since I've done any gaming. I did convert my main machine to Linux a month or so ago, and did… more »

So it's been a while since I've posted (as usual). Not really a ton going on, at least nothing new and thus "blog-worthy," but I am still playing Rift and don't plan to switch games...in a way I haven't felt since EQ1 was the dominant game.
A lot of… more »

Haven't posted in a while - just not a lot going on to really write about. I'm playing EVE super-duper casually, participating in the Rift beta events as they happen (and as I get time), and have also activated one of my WoW accounts. A friend and I r… more »

Over the weekend, I got quite a bit of time (for me anyway!) to check out the RIFT beta, and I'm still very impressed. The level of polish and detail is amazing, especially for a closed beta. Obviously they've had this thing in intensive internal test… more »

I haven't written an entry about RIFT yet, for (mainly) a couple of reasons. The first is that I haven't got a lot of time to play in the three beta events that have happened so far. The other is that the game is very well covered by the blogging worl… more »

I'm still alive - and we're still planning to do the "CD A Week" project. I've just been taking a little break from the "ZOMG MASSIVE INPUT/INFO COMING AT ME 24/7" world of Twitter and Facebook for a little while. Sometimes it gets to be a bit much an… more »

Last night, I was talking with my wife about my gaming hobby, and past games I'd played and tested. She pointed out that not including the many years we enjoyed Everquest together, I seemed to enjoy it the most when I was in a testing phase for a game.… more »

I don't have a lot to write about, as I've not been able to spend a "lot" of time back in WoW, but what time I have had has been fun.
I had been planning to slow-level a rogue, but since I do have 2 level 80 characters sitting on that account, I had… more »

For the last week or two, I've been talking with various co-followers on Twitter about WoW, and so it was inevitable I'd return to the game, at least for a month-long romp. You never know how long I'll stay, but no matter what it'll be a fun romp.

Yeah, it's been a while since I've written...again. There's just a ton going on, and not much of it is blog-worthy. Not that this is, either, but... I like to write. ;)
I guess the "biggest" thing would be that we've purchased all the equipment we… more »

It's been quite a while since I've written here. Mainly we've just been busy doing a ton of new things, and I haven't had much time to write. That, and to be honest, most of the things we've been doing aren't overly appropriate for discussion on a pub… more »

As I'd posted before, I've been playing LOTRO lately. It's been fun. I don't get a ton of time to play, but LOTRO works well for odd blocks of time, at least at the early levels. My Lore-master is just up to level 20 as of last night.
As he's of t… more »

Played my Lore-master for a good 5-6 levels last night - yeah - definitely back to "my" class. Getting Blinding Flash was a huge deal back ages ago when I got it on Vendraen, and was a huge deal on Vendrayn last night. Pre-BF and Post-BF, a Lore-maste… more »

Ok, so it was inevitable. I was enjoying the heck out of the Hobbit, and the Hobbit-ness of the Shire, and all was good. Then I was at the Michel Delving bank area, and saw a level 65 Lore-master that happened to have nearly the same appearance setting… more »

Back when I was playing LOTRO very seriously, I, as many people do, started a second account, and while my "real" high level/Lifetime subbed account is still banned, my alt account is just fine. The highest level character on it is level 18 and I have v… more »

Ok, so I promised that today I'd begin a series of posts over @ Nomadic Gamer on MMO gaming under Linux. And I fully intended to! The problem is, as I'm sure you've all noticed, I haven't been blogging much lately, and when you don't do things as often… more »

I haven't written much lately, as there just isn't much "happening." I'm playing Warhammer Online, but there's really nothing "exciting" to write about. I play, it's fun, and things are good. Heh.

Playing Warhammer Online again for the past week or two has made me realize there's a lot that a lot of players just don't "get" about "PvP" in some of the newer MMOs. I'll talk mainly about WAR, since that's what I've been playing - but I remember thes… more »

As a follow-up to a previous post, the matter of my LOTRO account is closed; Turbine will not budge, and I'm ... well ... done. Without my hard-earned characters, and somewhat more importantly, my names that I've used for the past 13 years, I just can't… more »

It was (I believe) Stargrace of Nomadic Gamer (NomadicGamer.com) that coined the term "Nomadic Gamer" - meaning someone that moves from game to game fairly frequently.
That pretty much describes me to a "T" since my post-EQ1 days. I'll stay with a… more »

As that screenshot, dated in 2002 shows, UI customization in MMOs has been around for a long time. I can't remember exactly when they added the capability to EQ1, but it was probably a year prior to that shot. Since then, interface customization has gr… more »

I think that's a large part of why I've been a little unfocused with games lately. There is still a tiny chance that I can get the LOTRO account unlocked, and if I do, LOTRO will be a primary focus.
Or, I guess, I can just wait until 2036 when the… more »
